Class Descriptions

A VARIETY OF CLASSES FOR AGES 2 AND UP

Dancin' Jazzi offers a wide variety of classes, allowing each student the opportunity to have a well-rounded performing arts education.
 

Teeny Dancers

Teeny Dancers is designed for students 2 & 3 years old. The 45-minute class consists of Ballet and Creative Movement. The students explore rhythm, body awareness, motor skills and creative expression.

Dress Code:
Girls: Pink or lilac leotard. Skin toned tights. Pink Ballet and black Tap shoes. Hair MUST be pulled away from face.
Boys: Any color, loose fitted shorts or long pants, no jeans, long or short; black or white fitted t-shirt. Black ballet and black Tap Shoes.
 

Tiny Dancers

Tiny Dancers is designed for students 4 & 5 years old. The 45-minute class consists of a weekly rotation of Ballet and Tap. The students learn technique, explore rhythm, body awareness, and refinement of motor skills.

Dress Code:
Girls: Pink or lilac leotard. Skin toned tights. Pink Ballet and black Tap shoes. Hair MUST be pulled away from face.
Boys: Any color, loose fitted shorts or long pants. No jeans, long or short; Black or white fitted t-shirt. Black Ballet and black Tap Shoes.
 

Hip Hop Tots/Hip Hop Kids

Hip Hop Tots/Hip Hop Kids is for the Teeny and Tiny dancers who love the Big Beat! This class allows our youngest students to learn some street styles and combinations to age appropriate upbeat music.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any comfortable clothes, not limited to dancewear. Clean tennis shoes. No jeans, long or short. Hair must be pulled away from face. No jewelry.
 

Beginner Ballet/Contemporary


Beginner Ballet/Contemporary is designed for beginner students 6-8 who have very little or no dance studio experience. This 1 hour class allows the student to have both subjects in one class setting. They will learn beginner terminology in both disciplines.

Dress Code:
Girls: Light blue leotard; Skin toned convertible tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair MUST be pulled away from face.
Boys: Black loose-fitted shorts or long pants, no jeans, long or short; blue fitted t-shirt. Black ballet shoes.

 

Beginner Jazz/Tap

Beginner Jazz/Tap students are taught to execute beginner skills in Tap and Jazz. They will be introduced to beginner terminology.

Dress Code:
Girls: Blue leotard; Skin toned tights, pink ballet shoes. Hair MUST be pulled away from face.
Boys: Black loose-fitted shorts or long pants, no jeans, long or short; blue fitted t-shirt. Black jazz and black tap shoes.
 

Hip Hop Jr. - Hip Hop Tweens/Teens

Hip Hop Jr - Hip Hop Tweens/Teens: Our two levels of Hip Hop are designed for the designated age groups. The Hip Hop Jr class is designed for ages 6-9 years old. The Hip Hop Tweens/Teens class is designed for ages 10 & up. The latest Hip Hop and fast moving street style moves and combinations are taught. Students have fun while learning body placement, rhythm and coordination

Dress Code:.
Girls & Boys: Any comfortable attire, not limited to leotards and tights; no jeans, long or short. This is your opportunity to sport that cool cap or other cool clothes. Clean tennis shoes. Hair MUST be pulled away from face.
 

Contemporary

Contemporary dance fuses Modern, Ballet and Jazz. The movements interpret the music and express emotion. To participate, students must also be enrolled in Ballet at Dancin’ Jazzi.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any fitted dance attire, not limited to leotards and tights; no jeans, long or short. No baggy shirts or pants. Either lyrical sandals, or barefoot. Hair MUST be pulled away from face. No hair should hang loose. (Strictly enforced)
 

Ballet Tech

Ballet Tech II
Students in this class are taught to execute elementary to intermediate skills in Ballet. Emphasis is placed on proper body placement and development of poise and grace.

Dress Code:
Girls: Black leotards, skin toned tights, skin toned split soled ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back away from ace. No hair should hang loose. No jewelry. (Strictly enforced)
Boys: Black loose fitted shorts or long pants, white fitted t-shirt or tank top, black ballet shoes.


Ballet Tech III, IV, V
Students in these classes are able to execute intermediate to advanced skills in Ballet. Emphasis is placed on proper body placement, development of poise and grace and center work.

Dress Code:
Girls: Black leotards, skin toned tights, skin toned split-sole Ballet shoes. Hair should be pulled back and away from face. No hair should hang loose. No jewelry. (Strictly enforced)
Boys: Black loose fitted shorts or long pants, white fitted t-shirt or tank top, black ballet shoes. Long hair must be pulled away from face and secured.
 

Jazz

Jazz II
Students in this class are taught to execute elementary to intermediate skills in Jazz. Emphasis is placed on terminology, balance, flexibility, coordination and strength.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any dance attire, not limited to leotards and tights. Hair should be pulled away from face. No hair should hang loose. (Strictly enforced) Black Jazz shoes. No baggy shirts or pants, no jeans, long or short.


Jazz III, IV, V
Students in these classes are able to execute intermediate to advanced skills in Jazz. Emphasis is placed on balance, flexibility, coordination and strength. Students should be ready to work on more advanced tricks and combinations.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any dance attire, not limited to leotards and tights. Hair should be pulled away from face. No hair should hang loose. (Strictly enforced) Jazz shoes. No baggy shirts or pants, no jeans, long or short.
 

Jazz/Tap

Jazz/Tap focuses on technique, rhythm and beginner to intermediate steps. Students should be familiar with simple terminology and be ready to learn simple combinations.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any fitted dance attire, not limited to leotards and tights. Black jazz shoes, black tap shoes. Long pants should not hang over the heel of your tap shoes; no jeans, long or short. Hair should be pulled away from face.
 

Tap

Tap II
Elementary through Intermediate steps and rhythms, emphasis on correct technique and individual expression are taught. Students should be ready for tap combinations and learning improvisation skills.

Dress Code:
Girls & Boys: Any dance attire, not limited to leotards and tights. Tap shoes. Long pants should not hang over the heel of your tap shoes; no jeans, long or short. Hair should be pulled away from face. No hair should hang loose. (Strictly enforced)


Tap III, IV, V
Intermediate through advanced steps, rhythms, emphasis on correct technique and individual expression are taught in these classes. Students should be ready for intermediate to advanced combinations and learning improvisation skills.
